[PD] pd waveform shutter effect

i have a questions that kind of relates to this: a not
dissimilar effect could be achieved using an automated
on/off effect (using perhaps a metro coupled with
delay) but to do this you need a pause "button" (or
else the file just goes back to the start again) as
yet i have not found a way to do this with the players
i have been using (tabread, readsf, xgroove et
cetera), is there an object which works on windows
which can take pause messages or a technique which
allows the file player to remember the position of the
played file?
