Well, but USB1 works. For example the Audiotrak Maya 7.1 works fine -
I have tested it - doing 8 channel output with ALSA (@ 16bit/44.1kHz
only, but that's a restriction by the USB1 bandwith.) The Maya 7.1
isn't expensive, too.

Of course if PCI would be an option, it will always be better.
