the [-~ 0.5] and the [*~ 2] are there to get a signal
between -1 and 1

pulse:
[phasor~]
|    [number between 0 - 1(
|   /
[>~]
|
[hip~ 5]

the [hip~ 5] removes the dc-offset of the pulse-signal
