Yes, it is. It's the pd way of saying: "private" or "local". It works
like this: $0 gets replaced by a unique number for every *abstraction*
(== every patch *file*) it is used in.
The next cool thing that you will find out, is that you can do things
to this innocent little $0 number. For example you can send it, you
can pass it around as abstraction argument and so on, and on the
way you can drill little holes into your local space.
There are a lot of (dirty) tricks possible with $0. Don't overdo
it. ;)
