[PD] gem: how to make focus or blur

hi list,

i want to have a gem scene where some things depending on perspective 
are in focus and some out of focus (foreground/background).
so the question is how to make things blurry? there is a pix_blur 
object but it seems no help-file for. pdb spills no results on 
"blurry", "blur" or "focus".
i have seen it somewhere already.
any hints appreciated.
