good point... there were both the old makefile (Miller's) and the new 
Makefile (autoconf) in the same folder and surprisingly, makefile was 
chosen. I should have realized that the makefile had a strange format 
for having been autocreated.....
Apart from some strange misconfiguration in my system everything works 
well now.
