Well, jMax is not really dead, but IRCAM dropped (direct) support for
jMax officially some days ago and closed the jmax at ircam mailing list.
jMax is still alive as a Sourceforge project. How alive? Only time
will tell. The user base was never as big as that of Pd anyway,
according to my impression.

Oh, and AFAIK Java is only used for the GUI part, not for the DSP part
of jMax.
