here in vienna (which is quite close to graz compared to montreal) i
personally know about 10-15 people working with pd - most of them are
anyway on the list - and about the same amount of people working with
max/msp. on the other hand we gave a university course about pd+gem
with about 25 participants (and another department does one on
electroaccoustic music with about the same (amount of) people) + i gave
a course on digital art where i referred to pd quite often and had
about 80 participants. i personally know people working with pd in
stockholm, oslo, iceland, ljubljana, berlin, salzburg, (and i did not
count developers now) ...

what i want to say: there have to be thousands of users.

actually we do even have some women in the courses but those students
who stay with pd for a longer time are mostly men. we got about 15%
women in the media informatics curriculum.
