[PD] pd on shared linux server

hm ok, i tried installing the ActiveTcl8.4.9.0.121397-linux-ix86 
package in /usr/lib/
gave symbolic links to libtcl8.4.so -> libtcl.so & libtk8.4.so -> 
libtk.so
extended PATH="/ftp/usr/lib/bin:$PATH" & export[ed] PATH
configured pd --without-x (--without-tcl doesn't seem to do any good)
but still no go... anything i'm missing?
