[PD] Gem 0.90.1 pix_film filesize

I'm trying to open a 10GB DV avi created by Windows Movie Maker in Gem 
0.90.1 and get this somewhat odd error:

new movie might crash... error: GEM: pix_movie: Couldn't open the movie 
file: =C:\\Documents and Settings\\Ian\\My 
Documents\\PD\\Above\\Light.aviﾐ
 (-2048)
error: GEM: pix_film: Unable to open file: C:/Documents and 
Settings/Ian/My Documents/PD/Above/Light.avi

I searched the archive and came up with this:

stating that there may be a filesize limit of [pix_film]. However, this 
message is dated two years ago and didn't sound certain.

Is there (still) a 32bit limit on film filesize with [pix_film]?
