[PD] Gem performance tests?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has ever published a performance analysis of Pd/Gem?

Particularly, I'm interested in:
- The type of machine required to adequately run Pd/Gem.
- Differences between Linux kernels - particularly compared with the optimized PlanetCCRMA kernel.
- The benefit of the -rt (realtime performance) option.
- The overhead of the Gem software package to render something that could otherwise be coded in pure OpenGL.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
