[PD] anyone have any luck with [getdir]

I would really like to use [getdir] in the help patches to smooth out  
the links to the related patches.  But whenever I try to use it, it  
immediately crashes Pd.  I am using Pd-0.38-2 w/ Tcl/Tk 8.4.9 built by  
Ben Bogart.  I compiled it from CVS against the 0.38-2 sources.

Has anyone had any luck with [getdir]?
