[PD] Gem and wireframe line width

running ATI on debian, I get something very like this, only
a bit nastier: because the object is moving slightly, the sections
that look so solid when it is stable disintegrate into a lot of messy
crosshatching.
there's probably some clever way to get a screenshot, but at the
moment it is a bit hard.
okay - so we have at least one non ATI-OSX report.
