"included" does not mean loading automatically: you have to load any 
library you want to use explicitly with something like "-lib Gem" at 
startup time, or creating an object [Gem] before(!) you create any other 
object (replace "Gem" by whatever library you want to load);
most libs will give you some feedback at the console that they loaded 
fine (if so)

if you are having problems loading libraries, consider looking at the 
list-archives (this has been asked often) and also at the pd-faq.
