[PD] usb video + [pix_video] = pd crash

hi list.
im on pd-0.37.1, gem-0.90, winxp.
i'm playing with a dv cam with usb streaming on. when using with
for instance windows movie maker, no probs.
when using with GEM, applying [pix_video] or [pix_videoDS]
forces pd to crash.
does this mean that  im forced  to use 1394 dv port, because usb
video streaming is not available in GEM yet? or is it something
else which acts abnormal?
