[PD] 3dp death on open

[we are]

just got a new gentoo dist up and running(lovely). 
trying to get a 3dp patch loaded and i pd simply crashes with the
following error.(not so..)

X Error of failed request:  BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
  Major opcode of failed request:  128 (GLX)
  Minor opcode of failed request:  5 (X_GLXMakeCurrent)
  Serial number of failed request:  36
  Current serial number in output stream:  36
pd_gui: pd process exited

pdp and everthing seemed to compile fine. i'm running 2.6.12 with an
nvidia ti4200. and using all versions of pd to test this problem.

Gem is working fine btw...

any suggestions?
