Thanks Martin, and everybody else who replied.

I've gone back to 10.3.9 for now - I'm finding it more important to get 
work done (funny - this hasn't happened with Linux, and that's so often 
given as a reason for not using it) but I'll try again when I'm not 
working to deadlines.
