[PD] re: Loading soundfiles

if I am not mistaken, and I may well be, jMAX had decent threaded disk 
reading stuff (please correct me).

I _think_  the jmax package was called unixdtd (I guess that would make 
it no good for windows).

The source of that is here: 
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/jmax/jmax/packages/unixdtd/

... could be a bum steer ... (ofcourse, that's assuming there is a 
vehicle moving towards a threaded disk access effort)
