[PD] os x performance optimization for a pd-installation

hi list,

this is slightly OT because the question concerns mainly OS X, my  
apologies.

i have a computer with os x running a patch in an installation which  
should run over the day.
the patch opens with an applescript on startup and the computer  
starts and shuts down with the energy saving control pane.

what should i do additionally to that to optimize the computer for  
this use?
i switched off spotlight, dashboard, exposé (so spotlight does not  
index..)
i wonder about the cron jobs of the system normally performed at  
night. with my current settings they will not be executed because the  
computer is off on night hours. is this to avoid?
