Well, thinking in a theoretical context for a moment; how hard would it 
be to port this idea to other game engines such as Quake 1 or even to 
be using only GEM ?

In your experience how was the interaction of the 3d modeling engine 
used for parameters of modulation ? I'm trying to think about this idea 
in abstraction to hopefully implement in other mediums ! I am very 
familiar with Quake 1/2 modding/level design but not very with Quake 3 
(which seems to be how the original project was implemented) were they 
world_entities that would send data to a synthesizer ? Surely this is 
an easy task using QuakeWorld and OSC !?

Your response has already been very helpful. I will post it if I find 
the current project ...
