i think (it might be wrong....):

it depends of the size of the video-file - 320x240 is an acceptable size 
for a powerbook g4 800mhz, i don't know what is the limitation with 
other hardware.

i've done that with 4 computers, 1 master and 3 slaves + 1 ethernet 
dispatcher (don't know the english word) and it has work during 1 month 
without a crash (thank you osx)

use a minimum of pd gui to save cpu capability.
