Compiling sndfiler against dev_0_39 instead of MAIN, I get:

gcc -DUNIX -fPIC -pthread -DPD -DUSE_PD_MAIN -O3 -funroll-loops -Wall
-W -Wshadow -Wno-parentheses -Wno-switch -Wno-unused -fomit-frame-
pointer -I. -I/Users/dc/cvs-puredata/devel_0_39/src -I/sw/include/ -I/
Users/dc/dev/pure-data/externals/grh/threadlib/src -o sndfiler.o -c
sndfiler.c
powerpc-apple-darwin8-gcc-4.0.0: unrecognized option `-pthread'
sndfiler.c:36: error: redefinition of ‘struct _garray’
make: *** [sndfiler.pd_darwin] Error 1
