I doubt very much that this statement is generally true. Current economic
models aren't always optimised for bringing originality to the mainstream,
and the mainstream is too lazy/busy to go out and seek it, but that
doesn't mean that they don't value it. All that is changing though, with
new distribution and targetted marketing models. Check out these links:
