Yes, it's directly in the RAM. If you run out of RAM, then it has to 
swap things to disk. This can cause interruptions or just generally slow 
down your system response. Also keep in mind that it "inflates" 
everything to 32 bit, so double the memory usage that you calculate if 
you are using 16 bit samples.
