[PD] pd crashes on openpannel (XP)

A bug report with a Pd patch that always triggers the bug is the best  
way to insure that this gets fixed.  Most of the work in fixing the  
bug like that is finding a way to reliably trigger it so you can see  
what's causing the problem.
