[PD] any plugin objects for OS X?

All of my attempts to compile the plugin~ object on Darwin have  
failed.  I'm not a programmer and don't know a lot about the ins and  
outs, but the external (plugin~) cannot be compiled because there is  
no pd_darwin in the code, only pd_linux.  I've tried workarounds, but  
there's nothing to be done short of rewriting the code (That I'm  
aware of... and I've been trying to get this to work for some time).   
I know there was talk about VST~ being written for os x, but I've not  
heard anything in a while.  I guess what all of this means is that pd  
on os x is still in its infancy.  There are some crucial things  
missing...
