I certainly don't... I say that you can do a lot of the Matlab stuff in 
Pd. Some advantages can be that you don't have to leave Pd to do that, so 
that the learning curve is smoother, and you don't have to do 
cross-language integration.

Speaking of which, isn't there a pd extern for connecting/linking with 
Octave?
