I added a test patch in /doc/examples.  I think I have the same chipset as you 
and I had to get the pwc driver from http://www.saillard.org (easy install).

Once you have it running, you have to select the "colorspace YUV420P" and 
"transfer read" options and select the YUV -> RGB conversion.
