Cheers Gunter that makes it perfectly clear. 
So I was going to use the apt-get puredata, will this deliver the extended version or the 'clean' un extended build.
If the latter is it then a matter of fetching the relevant rpm externals from the repository and loading them using the  'geiger namespace' technique. Would this  be the best way to sort this all of this out since I have already come across problems with the libjack dependancies.
