[PD] comport in Win XP "Write error, maybe TX-OVERRUNS on serial line"

when I was having trouble with comport earlier on Windows, somebody gave 
me a link to this comport.dll. I replaced the comport.dll I had with 
this one and that solved my problems. If the test release doesn't work 
for you, give this a shot:
