i recently packed opencvs object/face detection routine into a 
freeframe-plugin which was quite straight forward.
it is available as .dll + sources from: 
http://vvvv.org/tiki-index.php?page=FreeFrameDetectObject

beware that it will not work with any freeframe host, but the host needs 
some extensions for being able to understand plugins with outputs. for

or you download opencv which also comes with a simple facedetect demo 
program:
