i had the same problem when i composed the sound for a video last
year ...
for that purpose, i wrote a small externals that connects with jack
transport, you can find it in the cvs in externals/tb/jack_transport ...
it requires pd devel_0_39, though, because it's using the idle callbacks
for synchronization ...
also, it's completely undocumented, iirc, it supports 'start', 'stop'
and 'bang'...
