R: RE : [PD] midi synch strategy

here is what I'm trying to do without success:

|
[midiout]

but the second software doesn't receive any start message and

[metro]
|
|248(
|
[midiout]

but it doesn't receive any MIDI Clock message..

is this the correct way to use midiout ?

It really looks like midiout doesn't do anything: i tried connecting pd to
itself (using jack) and midiin doesn't report anything..
