Not at all! I think, it's a good approach to first try and make
something that works on your own instead of just copying stuff from
someone else, because maybe only then one can appreciate the beauty of
a "better" solution found later and one will have a deeper
understanding of *why* the other solution is "better".

And of course there is a time, when there is not other solution
available to copy and paste.
