[PD] Newbie: output~ couldn't create

I am doing my first tries with pd. I am specially interested in
learning building my own synths. I've followed this interesting
tutorial.

However when loading the provided example Simple Synth.pd I get this
error in the output window.

output~
... couldn't create

Obviously I get no sound.

Any ideas welcome!
