well, [pdp_route] does something different than [route].
it is rather the functionality of [demultiplex] (which can be build with 
  [route] however).

otoh, i _think_ you need [pdp_route] if you run pdp in a separate 
thread, because else the sync might get confused.

in short: i wouldn't trade [pdp_route] for [route].
