while i don't know the real intention behind segmented patch chords, but 
i have a strong feeling that they are supposed to increase readability.

however, in practice i find that generally they reduce readability.
this is most likely a problem with the users and not with the feature 
per se.

i guess about 95% of patches with segmented patch-chords that i have 
seen do it like this.
this is why i don't want to encourage users to use it.


however, as said before, if there was a flag where i could turn off all 
the carefully laid-out segmentation (per patch, per pd-instance,...), i 
could be happy still :-)
