Screen DPI setting.  This could even vary between two screens on the 
same computer in a dual-head setup, here it happens to be the same:

claude at minimus:~$ grep DPI /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(++) fglrx(0): DPI set to (100, 100)
(++) fglrx(1): DPI set to (100, 100)
