On Linux I get the same values not only for the first, but for all
random values, unless I seed with os.time, and then the first value is
different everytime, too.
But as globally seeded randoms are unusable for many composition
algorithms, I prefer the random module from here:
http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/~lhf/ftp/lua/index.html which lets you
create the equivalent of Pd's independent [random] objects in Lua.
