[PD] Webcam not working in PureData but works in cheese / ubuntu 8.10

hi all, trying to find out why my a4tech  viewcam works in cheese a webcam
viewing app, but dows not work in puredata?

i also have a microdoft vx-100- that worked in a friends 8.1- laptop
installation but i cannot seem to get it working for me. ps. even when it
did work in friends 8.10 it was blurry!
