When you play the guitar, your fingers communicate non-audio data to the 
strings, and then the strings compute audio waveforms accordingly. I think 
that it's a great example.

Or do you mean anything more specific than that when you say non-audio ?

In some cases it can be difficult to distinguish audio from non-audio, or 
musical from non-musical... even having stated definitions... but it might 
not hurt to try to define audio.
