[PD] compiling externals on snow leopard

On running a regular ./configure in the gui rewrite branch, I get the error:

checking for C compiler default output file name...
configure: error: in
`/Users/richardeakin/Downloads/src/pd-gui-rewrite-0.43':
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.

I attached the config.log, any ideas?
