Position offered: Interactive Media Lab Assistant / Guest Lecturer

Starting in March 2010, the Multimedia Design department of St Lucas
Art College in Ghent plans to install an ongoing workshop aimed at
interactive media. The workshop functions as a support base for
students who want to develop multimedia projects which involve
physical computing and sensory input. The workshop assistant actively
works with students on technical solutions towards the realization of
their projects. The workshop assistant also assists students in
scripting web-based portofolio applications

Candidate profile

- Should have a proven track record in developing physical computing
applications and web-based applications.
- Should have a broad working knowledge of and hands-on experience
with several of the following IDE's and languages: Processing, Pure
Data, Max/MSP, Arduino, Actionscript 3.0, PHP, Javascript/JQuery,
HTML/CSS, Ruby
- Should possess practical electronics skills and is able to prototype
circuitry involving sensors, microprocessors and computers (Arduino).
- Has excellent communication skills and is fluent in Dutch, English or both.
- Has an open-minded, problem-solving and adaptive attittude towards
artistic ideas.

Practicalities

- A temporary position under the statute of guest lecturer on freelance basis.
- Starting in March until June of 2010. One day per week, number of weeks TBD.
- Fee + travel expenses.
- Possibility of continuation in following semester after positive evaluation.
