[PD] change font in pdp_ascii?

Hello pdpeople,

is there a way to use a different font in pdp_ascii? The helpfile tells that
it is possible to "load a characters map" with the same format as a file
called "characters.dat", but google allmighty only returns pages about pdp
saying the same thing... Does it have anything to do with fonts?
