this is because the above link is simply wrong and sourceforge thus
redirects to the default download page of pure-data; at the very top you
will see the latest uploaded package (right now, this is pmpd), but the
page is _not_ a pmpd download page but has all other pd-downloads from
sourceforge as well (just scroll down...)

the correct link should be:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pure-data/Pd-0.42.5-extended-windowsxp-i386.exe

(without the trailing /download)
