[PD] space bar generates a bang

can't remember off hand which key number it is but you can use the [key] object

make a patch like this 

[key]
| 
[(number)]

and note the number that flashes up when you press the space bar then

[key]
 |
[sel *space bar number*]
 |
[O]

I'll post a patch later if you're still stuck
