the default upsampling algorithm was chosen deliberately to alert
people that there is something they should think about, before proceeding.
the idea is, that people *should* select the upsampling method they
want, rather than leave it at the default.
i admit, this is a bit pedagogical.

so from my pov, i wouldn't care about a change in the default
upsampling method.
