maybe this:
- add "1" to current sum whenever the user presses "Up".
- add "-1" to current sum, whenever the user presses "Down".

PS: btw, i think that "expr" is _very_ overrated. i wished that people 
would consider altertnatives before throwing any problem that have at [expr]
