Hmm, this I've never seen happen.  Does it happen in English mode too? Do any
of the names of your Audio or MIDI devices have non-latin or Japanese
characters in them?

They do the same thing, but Edit mode(shift+Cmd+E) is an experiment about
whether it makes sense to have a standard set of editing key commands that all
have shift in them:

Autopatch 	shift+Cmd+A
Edit mode	shift+Cmd+E
Magic Glass	shift+Cmd+G
Perf Mode	shift+Cmd+P
AutoTips	shift+Cmd+T
