The help files are pretty clear about it. [vd~ ] is controlled by a
signal and it performs a 4-point interpolation. [delread~] is controlled
by message and doesn't do any interpolation, thus its delay time is
quantized to full samples. I haven't measured, but I'd expect [delread~]
to use slightly less CPU cycles than [vd~]. If you need smooth delay
time transitions, [vd~ ] is the way to go.
